Project Manager
a. Scope of Work
• Plan and conceptualise Data Centre (DC) and Network Control Room (NCR) layout, system and network power requirement and heat dissipation, network and cabling infrastructure and servers’ infrastructure design.
• Review architectural building layout plan and plan for DC and NCR location to provide optimum routing for network infrastructure.
• Prepare project plan and work with user to gather requirement based on the understanding of the business needs and leverage on IT to meet the requirement.
• Perform budget estimation of projects.
• Assess and recommend emerging technologies and products to meet present and future business needs.
• Prepare technical specification and tender documentation based on user’s requirements.
• Liaise with the Procurement Section for the procurement and tendering of services and equipment.
• Monitor closely the performance of the awarded vendor and the overall progress of the projects to ensure all the milestones are met, on time and according to the contract.
• Work with architects and engineers and assist in site inspection of building during construction period to ensure that the structured cabling system, DC, NCR, server and network equipment are successfully implemented while meeting all requirements.
• Monitor the performance of maintenance vendors and take appropriate corrective actions in cases of poor performance. This includes vendor management to ensure faults are rectified promptly and also conduct related reviews, tests and clarification sessions to pre-empt possible issues thus proactively prevent problems from arising.
• Conduct quality assurance checks such as Factory Acceptance Tests and User Acceptance Tests.
• Perform necessary project risks management and devise relevant risk mitigating measures with users and vendors.
• Responsible for all project management and technical matters pertaining to the project.
• Recommend the commissioning of completed systems and network.
• Ensure proper capitalisation of tangible (e.g. equipment) and intangible (e.g. services) assets after the completion of projects.
• Ensure proper documentation of implemented system.
• Ensure newly completed networks and server systems are being properly handled over to the maintenance team.
b. Requirements
• Possess a recognised university degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent.
• Able to manage both the outsourced vendor and contract.
• Have at least five (5) years experience in handling IT network and infrastructure projects.
• Have prior experience with evaluation, recommendation and procurement of ICT equipment (i.e. network equipment, servers, and storage devices).
• Possess good written and oral communication skill and project management skills.
• Technically competent in IP networking, LAN, WAN, Active Directory and Structured Cabling.
This shall include knowledge on systems requiring high availability, fully redundant networks, corporate firewall and intrusion detection systems.
• Preferably to have knowledge on security involving network equipment and Wintel servers, potential IT threats, counter-measures and their effects on the underlying IT infrastructure.
• A good team player and able to work independently.
• Result and customer oriented with analytical and multi-tasking capabilities.
