Progressio Environment Policy and Advocacy Officer Job Vacancy in United Kingdom

Permanent contract, full-time, 35 hours per week
The Environment Policy and Advocacy Officer is the policy lead for Progressio’s work on this theme, and will: a) deliver international policy work on the environment; b) link international policy work to evidence and
analysis from country programmes . This will include close collaboration with campaigns and communications staff.

Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline, the post holder will have experience of conducting research-based policy development with associated lobbying and/or campaigning; proven experience in research methodologies, as well as experience of working effectively with national NGOs, community and faith-based organisations, and networks; media and campaigns work, and monitoring and evaluating advocacy and policy work.

A strong understanding of international development and related policy issues, particularly those related to the environment (including climate change ), and poverty in the developing world; the ability to work/network with civil society organisations and NGO networks engaged in advocacy on relevant environment and development issues, and an understanding of the institutions which may form the focus of an advocacy strategy are essential.

You must also have excellent analytical, oral and writing skills in English; strong interpersonal skills; the ability to work effectively in collaboration with church and faith communities and institutions; an understanding of gender issues; a willingness to travel to country programmes and elsewhere occasionally, and a commitment to and sympathy with Progressio’s purpose, vision and values.
