Picture warning work
Hand writing anti- tobacco advertisement and graphic
pack warnings especially those that include pictures, reduce the number of
children who begin smoking and increase the number of smokers who quit.
Mass media campaign
Media based health promotion efforts have the potential
to reach large segment of the population, especially those who are less
educated, and to lower barriers to participation in health related programs,
mass media campaigns can reduce tobacco consumption by influencing people to
protect non-smoker and convincing youth to stop using tobacco.
Bans on tobacco advertising
A comprehensive ban on all tobacco advertising,
promotion and sponsorship could decrease tobacco consumption.
Polices and
programs
There are effective policies and programs that prevent
young people from using tobacco. Policies and programs that contain several
parts working together to make tobacco use more difficult and less acceptable
are the one that work best.
Increasing the price of tobacco
When the price of tobacco is high it discourages
people from buying it when they think about the money they will spend.
Tobacco taxes
Tobacco taxes are the most cost effective way to
reduce tobacco use especially among young and poor people.
