Effects of tobacco smoking

American Cancer Society (2015) states the following effects of tobacco smoking:

Respiratory disease
Smoking can cause lung disease by damaging your
airways and the small air sacs (alveoli) found in your lungs.
Impotence
Incidence of impotence is approximately higher in male
smokers compared to non-smokers and it is a key cause of erectile dysfunction.
Smoking causes impotence because it promotes arterial narrowing.
Female infertility
Smoking is harmful to the ovaries, potentially causing
female infertility, and the degree of damage is dependent upon the amount and
length of time a woman smokes. Nicotine and other harmful chemicals in
cigarettes interfere with the body’s ability to create estrogen, a hormone that
regulates ovulation.
Cancer
The primary risk of tobacco usage include many forms
of cancer, particularly, liver cancer, kidney cancer, cancer of the larynx and
bladder cancer.
Stains teeth
Smoking can affect the health of your teeth and gums
and can cause tooth loss and result to brownish or yellow coloration of the
teeth.
Affects heart and blood vessel
Smoking tobacco damages the heart and blood vessel
(cardiovascular system), increasing risk of heart disease and stroke. It is a
major cause of coronary heart disease which can lead to a heart attack.
