Perseus Mining is a
duet listed (Australia, Toronto) gold miner and explorer focused on the West
African region. Perseus Mining (Ghana) Limited (PMGL) has recently commissioned
the world-class Edikan gold project in the Western Region of Ghana. Edikan Gold
Mine (EGM) has a current mining reserve of 3.3M oz of gold from a resource base
of 4.3M oz. The Edikan processing facility has been designed as a 5.5Mtpa
processing facility with the ability to expand this to 8Mtpa in the future. The
plant is capable of producing at a rate of 220-270,000oz gold

1. Senior Project
Engineering
This position will be
based at the Edikan Mine and at times may be required to travel to Perth,
Australia. This position reports directly to the Deputy General
Manager/Production Manager.
  • The role of the
    Senior Project Engineer within the Production team is focused on
    delivery of the Edikan processing plant debottlenecking/expansion on
    behalf of the operation.
  • The Senior Project Engineer will
    be responsible for ensuring all requirements of the site
    operational team are met in the design of the expansion as well as administer
    the contract on site for the design and construction of the expansion
    scope of work.
  • The Senior Project Engineer
    will also act as a technical resource for the processing operations team
    in addition to coordination of the expansion project play a
    major role in the development and administration of the change
    management process within this team.
The
role is offered on a rostered basis, either 10 days on/4 days off or 15 days
on/6 days off with travel to point of hire covered by the company. A competitive
salary will be offered commensurate with experience.
 
Required
Skills or Experience
Candidates
for this role would be expected to meet the following criteria:
  • Minimum 7 years experience in an
    engineering discipline, preferably Mechanical but other disciplines will
    be considered
  • Good understanding of all
    engineering disciplines as they relate to design of minerals processing
    facilities
  • Demonstrated project design and
    delivery experience
  • Management of small to medium
    scale site construction activities
  • Previous exposure to minerals
    processing plant commissioning
  • Brownfields expansion/integration
    experience
  • Previous success in challenging
    locations and projects
  • Excellent communication, planning
    and co-ordination skills
Note: Formal qualifications in an engineering
discipline are required
2. Chief
Environmental Chemist
The Chief
Environmental Chemist will be responsible for providing accurate and timely
physio-chemical and biological analysis of water and tailings samples.
The
responsibilities for the position include but are not limited to:-
  • Develop and maintain operating
    procedures and standards for the environmental laboratory;
  • Implement a fully automated
    reporting system for the environmental laboratory;
  • Timely analysis of water and
    process samples under International QA/QC requirements;
  • Manage the environmental
    laboratory and provide accurate results/returns;
  • Establish a QA/QC programme with
    other laboratories;
  • Conduct Risk Assessment and operate the
    laboratory under safe conditions

The successful
applicant must possess degree or Post Graduate Degree in Chemistry, or Chemical
Engineering, or Environmental Chemistry, or Laboratory Technician with at least

Electrical Instrumentation Tradesperson
The
responsibilities for the position include but are not limited to:-
  • Ensure that all electrical
    installations and housekeeping is maintained to a very high standard
    and the appropriate paper work completed and  returned to your Supervisor
  • Carry out duties as instructed by
    the Electrical Instrumentation Supervisor and Mechanical Supervisors
    during your attendance on site;
  • Attend daily pre-start and
    participate in safety and work related issues;
  • Maintain regular and effective
    communication and feedback with peers and supervisors;
  • Ensure all duties are carried out
    in a safe, efficient and timely manner
The

  • The successful applicant must
    possess degree in Electrical/Electromechanical/Instrumentation Engineering
    with 6 years professional work experience in Processing Plant Maintenance

    caliberate and repair instruments and read and analyse PID are essential
 4. Electrical
Technician
The Electrical
Technician, reporting to the Electrical Instrumentation Supervisor, will be
responsible for effective maintenance of the Processing Plant and site
infrastructure at the Perseus Mining (Ghana) Limited, located near Ayanfuri.
The
responsibilities for the position include but are not limited to:-
  • Ensure that all electrical
    installations and house keeping is maintained to a very high standard and
    the appropriate paper work completed and returned to your Supervisor;
  • Carry out duties as instructed by
    the Electrical Instrumentation Supervisor and Mechanical Supervisors
    during your attendance on site;
  • Attend the daily pre-start and
    participate in safety and work related issues;
  • Maintained regular and effective
    communication and feedback with peers and supervisors;
  • Ensure all duties are carried
    out in a safe; efficient and timely manner
The

    possess Electrical Engineering Technician II or EET III with 5 years
    professional work experience in Process Plant Maintenance in a large-scale

    drawings, knowledge in HV-MV cable splicing and termination, and
    instrumentation and control systems are essential
5. Equipment/Machine
Operator
The Mechanical
fitters, reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, will be responsible for
effective maintenance of the Processing Plant and site infrastructure at the
Perseus Mining (Ghana) Limited, located near Ayanfuri.
The
responsibilities for the position include but are not limited to:-
  • Ensure that all Cranes, Lifting
    Equipment and mobile machinery is maintained to a very high standard and
    the appropriate paper works has been completed and returned to your
    Supervisor;
  • Ensure all rigging equipment is
    checked and registered;
  • Attend daily pre-start and
    participate in safety and work related issues;
  • Maintain regular and effective
    communication and feedback with peers and superior;
  • Complete Lift Studies for all
    Lifting tasks;
  • Ensure all duties are carried
    out in a safe, efficient and timely manner

6. Mechanical
Fitters
The Mechanical
fitters, reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, will be responsible for
effective maintenance of the Processing Plant and site infrastructure at the
Perseus Mining (Ghana) Limited, located near Ayanfuri.
The
responsibilities for the position include but are not limited to:-
  • Perform all maintenance on Process
    Plant equipment and ensure that work is conducted as per work schedule;
  • Monitor and effectively maintain
    installed mechanical equipment
  • Ensure safe working practices
    within Processing Department;
  • Maintain high standard
    of housekeeping;
  • Rebuild and Maintain Gyratory
    Crusher;
  • Pump rebuilds and overhauls

7. Mechanical
Supervisor
The Mechanical
Supervisors, reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, will supervise the
fixed plant maintenance section of the Processing Department at the Perseus
Mining (Ghana) Limited, located near Ayanfuri.
The
responsibilities for the position include but are not limited to:-
  • Supervise boiler makers,
    fitters and mechanics to ensure that work is conducted as
    per work schedule;
  • Develop job procedures, and ensure
    all standard jobs are to up to date and have the necessary parts and
    labour identified to perform the task;
  • Continually search for methods to
    improve upon existing mechanical maintenance practices;
  • Set high quality standards for
    both yourself and other processing staff; and
  • Conduct training

8. Electrical
Instrumentation Supervisor
The Electrical
Instrumentation Supervisor, reporting to the Senior Electrical Instrumentation
Supervisor, will be responsible for the effective maintenance of the electrical
systems of Processing Plant and site Infrastructure at the Perseus Mining
(Ghana ) Limited, located near Ayanfuri.
The
responsibilities for the position include but are not limited to:-
  • Supervise and assign work to
    subordinates and ensure all their duties are carried out in a safe,
    efficient and timely manner;
  • Minimise processing costs, whilst
    maintaining/exceeding mill availability targets;
  • Attend monthly production planning
    meeting to understand long term operational priorities and advise of
    planned forecast equipment down time;
  • Develop job procedures, and ensure
    all standard jobs are up to date and have the necessary parts and labour
    identified to perform the task; and
  • Maintain regular and effective
    communication and feedback with peers, subordinates and supervisor

    requirements (HV Experience, HV Switching, Computer Skills,
    Develop Procedures and knowledge of PLC Instruments and Controls)
