We are recruiting for a Research Coordinator to support a range of research and program activities in Tanzania, including but not limited to supporting protocol development, facilitating IRB submissions, facilitating community engagement, and supporting on the ground management of research and program implementation activities.

Duties and responsibilities include:
• Draft and facilitate submission and approval of local IRB applications (NIMR, COSTECH, AND ZAMREC).
• Coordinate hiring and assist in management of local data collection firms, consultants, or research assistants in collaboration with Country Director, country site administrator, and/or project managers.
• Maintain a research data base and names list of local consultants, research institutions, research assistants and enumerators.
• Facilitate and manage community engagement and entry for local research projects and initial program implementation.
• Identify appropriate sites within Tanzania for research and program implementation activities.
• Assist in development of study protocols, sampling frameworks, sampling designs, and field research logistics planning and organization.
• Oversee and contribute to enumerator trainings for data collection exercises.
• Review and provide local feedback and input on research related activities, analyses, and reports.
• Participate in phone calls and meetings with other PATH project staff to discuss relevant research- and program-related activities.
• Represent PATH in local research committee or forum meetings.
• Assist in the development of and provide input for new research projects or proposals as needed.
• Provide additional support to PATH Tanzania country leader as necessary to build the research portfolio of PATH in Tanzania.

• Work with administrative staff to:
o Translate or arrange for translation of data collection tools from English into Kiswahili.
o Facilitate clearance of technology equipment and other research tools shipped to the country program in collaboration with the site administrator.
o Facilitate processing of allowances, claims and other remuneration for consultants and other local research team members.

Required Skills
• Knowledge of the principles of research design, implementation, and analysis.
• Experience in community assessment and engagement related to health matters on either a research or program implementation level.
• Clear understanding of both qualitative and quantitative research processes acquired through both practical and academic experience.
• Excellent interpersonal/human relations skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in both Swahili and English.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Computer competency including proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel
• Attentiveness to detail and commitment to excellence.
• Strong ability to work independently with minimum guidance.

Required Experience
Masters in Public Health/Epidemiology and a minimum of five years’ experience in research work
