Requirements

  • Reporting
    to the Partnership director, the Partnership Development officer will be
    responsible for;
  • lobbying
    and advocating for the need for increased investments in the improvement
    of Small holder Agriculture, Energy and Environment conditions
  • The
    candidate must develop a good understanding and familiarity with HPP’s
    programs and as well Humana People to People, understand the cornerstones
    that they are developed upon.
  • The
    candidate must to be able to present and represent good development work.
  • The
    Partnership Development officer will work at part time basis at the
    Partnership Team at the National office of HPP in Gaborone and will follow
    all the systems in the office and under the leadership of the team.
  • The
    person will map out potential funding sources for the programs, modes of
    cooperation and develop partnerships and document them.
  • Develop
    partnerships and mobilize funds for HPP’s agriculture, alternative energy
    and environment programs.
  • Provide
    technical assistance in start up of farming projects.
  • One of
    the tasks will be also to extend the partnership efforts to include the
    relevant private business sector.

Requirements

Academic
Qualifications and Experience:

The candidate must possess a Bachelor degree in Agriculture with specialisation
in conservation farming and environment or similar.
A minimum of six years working experience in the agriculture sector.

Competencies

  • The
    candidate must be dedicated to the development work for the needy people,
    be motivated, efficient and effective.
  • The
    candidate must have experience in lobbying and advocating for agricultural
    development.
  • The
    candidate must possess essential up to date knowledge on farmer’s
    situation, especially the small holder farmers all over Botswana.
  • The
    candidate must possess essential up to date knowledge on government
    programs and initiatives, commissions’ work, SADC and international
    organisations and funder’s initiatives, other organizations work, their
    approach and cooperation.
  • The
    candidate must possess strategic relations in the spheres dealing with
    agriculture development.
  • The
    candidate must have good communication skills, negotiation skills and must
    master writing the English language. The candidate must be able to work
    part time and must be able to work in Gaborone.

national strategies and objectives as well as agreed international development

    production and rural development;

    primary education;
  • Promotion
    of gender equity and women’s empowerment;
  • Reduction
    of mortality for children under 5 years;
  • Fight
    against HIV/AIDS and other preventable diseases;
  • Environment
    sustainability.

HPP presently
operates projects in 10 districts and sub districts within the areas of:
Community Development, including Women’s economic empowerment
Health, including HIV and AIDS, TB and nutrition and food gardens;
