Partners In Health is a Harvard-affiliated NGO operating in twelve countries
worldwide. Partners In Health- Rwanda/ Inshuti Mu Buzima (PIH/IMB) has worked
in Rwanda since 2005, partnering with the Rwandan government and Clinton Health
Access Initiative to strengthen primary health systems in three rural
districts, namely: Kayonza, Burera and Kirehe. PIH has established a community
library centre at Rwinkwavu

Information
The
Rwinkwavu Community Library and Learning Center is a Partner in Health – Ready
for Reading Initiative project. A 700 square meter center is in the process of
being completed and will house a library and learning center open to the public
of Rwinkwavu. For more information on the project please visit www.readyforreading.org.
PIH/IMB
is therefore seeking to recruit a competent and dynamic Rwandan
national to fill the position of a Library Manager.
POSITION: Library Manager
Location: Rwinkwavu
Major
responsibilities
The
Library Manager will be responsible for overseeing and participating in the
operation of the Rwinkwavu Community Library and Learning Center.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring that the library is
well stocked with relevant book resources - Ensuring that all books are
displayed according to library guidelines - Mobilising the community to
ensure they utilize resources available at the library - Creating and fostering a
collaborative working environment with different stakeholders - Developing goals for staff and
ensuring the goals are achieved - Carrying out performance
appraisals for staff - Preparing and submitting
reports to stake holders - Undertake Basic bookkeeping
- Training Patrons and co-workers
on library management - Providing and ensuring superior
customer service - Designing library
schedules on when the community will access the library resources - Preparing lists of books to be
purchased - Liaising with the library
management board - Researching and developing
partnerships and programming with key relevant institutions
KNOWLEDGE,
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
The following knowledge, skills and abilities are required for the job:
- A Bachelors degree in
Librarianship or a degree in management, social sciences with a diploma in
Librarianship - At least 1 year experience
working in a library - Strong English and Kinyarwanda
communication skills, both spoken and written. French would be an asset. - Basic computer skills
- Basic accounting skills
- Ability to innovate and develop
creative solutions - Above average ability to lead
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to plan and manage time
well - All candidates should possess a
passion and interest in reading and the promotion of reading .
