Partners In Health/Inshuti Mu Buzima PIH is a Harvard-affiliated NGO operating in twelve countries worldwide. PIH/IMB has worked in Rwanda since 2005, partnering with the Rwandan Government and Clinton Health Access Initiative to strengthen primary health
systems in three rural districts, namely: Kayonza, Burera and Kirehe.
Partners In Health (PIH)/Inshuti Mu Buzima (IMB) is seeking to recruit an outstanding candidate to fill the following vacant positions:
1.Job position: Infrastructure coordinator-Burera
Reports to: District Program Manager
Location: Burera
Overall responsibilities:
Under close supervision of Burera District Project Manager, the District Infrastructure coordinator will oversee all IMB infrastructure activities in Burera District. He/she will provide technical support, participate in the development and implementation of infrastructure plans in the District and will support where necessary partners (Hospital and health centers) in technical domain.
Specific tasks:
a) Planning for infrastructure activities in Burera District
• Work with partners (hospital and health centers) to identify the area that need to be strengthen in terms of infrastructure.
• Accompany IMB partners in reviewing and preparing tender documents and contracts.
• Supervise the implementation of all approved infrastructure activities across the district
• Monitor infrastructure activities supported by IMB in partner institutions
b) Propose solutions in design for new buildings to be built before submitting them to contractors.
• Provide advisory support to partners in terms of good design of a health facilities
• Work with district technicians to find solutions for construction/renovation of health facilities supported by IMB.
c) Planning and management of small construction Projects. (Health centers strengthening, poser houses)
• Plan for all small construction projects to be done in Burera District,
• Lead the implementation of the small construction projects,
• Work with Finance and procurement to purchase needed materials ,
• Work the District Project manager to ensure that activities planned are in the budget line,
• Report regularly to the district project manager ,
d) Provide support to hospital maintenance department in terms of materials and tools and advices so as to ensure effective hospital maintenance and staff residences.
• Provide a technical and advisory support to partner’s technical teams to ensure that patient’s right to care is preserved.
• Work with partners to identify area of support in terms of tools and equipments,
e) Planning on further Water and sanitation projects.
• Work with partnering institutions to identify areas that need to be strengthen in terms of water and sanitation,
• Provide plan and estimation for water and sanitation projects,
• Work with finance manager and procurement to purchase needed materials for water and sanitation projects.
• Lead/supervise water and sanitation projects funded by IMB.
• Provide regularly report to the district project manager
Academic Qualifications/Experience/Language
• University degree in the fields of Civil Engineering, Construction, or Architecture.
• Minimum 2 years experience in the construction area or work area, at a private or public level or NGO.
• Experience in complex logistics and operations,
• Experience in supervision and project work, at the office and in the field, experience in the administration of construction contracts
• Fluency in oral and written English, Kinyarwanda and a working knowledge of French.
