Technician and Boat Operator

A few part-time fisheries positions will be available with the Pacific
Salmon Commission’s Hydro-acoustic group (http://www.psc.org) during
the 2015 summer fishing season. We are looking to fill two types of
positions, a field technician and a boat operator. T
he work site
location for these positions is Mission, BC. Details are as follows:
Field Technician
Duties and Responsibilities
• Data processing and archiving using MS Windows based software
• Maintaining and monitoring of data-collection equipment
• Setting-up and maintaining a field site
• Monitoring of acoustic equipment
• Operation of a boat on the Fraser River
Qualifications
• Fisheries and/or environmental awareness
• Confident with Microsoft Windows XP and newer operating systems
• Ability to work shift work
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to work on a boat
• Pleasure Craft Operator Card
• Valid driver’s license and your own vehicle to travel to/from the field site.
Boat Operator
Duties and Responsibilities
• Operating a vessel (7m) to collect fisheries sonar data by
transecting the river
• Maintaining and monitoring of data-collection equipment
• Backing up data using Windows based data-archiving software
• Maintaining a vessel
Qualifications
• Ability to operate a boat in the Fraser River
• Fisheries and/or environmental awareness
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows XP operating system
• Ability to work shift work
• Ability to work independently
• Pleasure Craft Operator Card
• Valid driver’s license and your own vehicle to travel to/from the field site.
Salaries
Wages will range from $20.28 to $24.01 per hour, depending on job
responsibilities and experience.
Start Date: July 2, 2015
Employment Length: 3 months
