Although the Super Falcons had a disappointing World Cup outing, their win over the Koreans was undoubtedly their best time in the contest.
On Monday, the World Football Governing Body, FIFA, listed France 2019’s top 10 goals, and Oshoala’s goal, which was Nigeria’s second against the Korean Republic was listed among the top 10 goals
Oshoala was Nigeria’s only goal scorer at the World Cup as the other goal credited to the Super Falcons was a Korean defender’s own goal.
Oshoala’s goal will be in contenton against those scored by Japan’s Yui Hasenegawa, France’s Amadine Henry, Sweden’s Sofia Jakobsen, USA’s Alex Morgan, England’s Lucy Bronze, Brazil’s Critiane, Italy’s Aurora Galli, Netherlands Back Gronen, and Cameroon’s Ajara Nchout.
As mentioned by FIFA, supporters will have the chance to vote for their favorite tournament goal until Wednesday, July 17.
This is the third successive FIFA Women’s World Cup in which football fans have been able to vote for the Tournament Goal.
The prize was earlier dominated by the United States. The strong header of Abby Wambach was chosen at the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup Germany.
Four years later, at Canada 2015, Carli Lloyds grabbed the accolade for a dramatic strike from her own half in the final against Japan.
Last year in Russia, another Nigerian Ahmed Musa also received a nomination for the tournament goal at the men’s World Cup.
Benjamin Pavard’s strike against Argentina for France, however, was selected as the best.
