Ongwanada offers a
wide range of individualized services and community supports to approximately
600 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families
in Kingston and eastern Ontario. Ongwanada is seeking an experienced and highly
motivated individual to fill the position of a part-time Social Worker (BSW)

Part-Time Social
Worker
Kingston, ON
DUTIES:
· Performing a major
role in the admissions process;
· Providing pre-admission information to clients and their families and
arranging pre-admission
· Arranging visits to residential areas
· Liaising with clients, families and agencies
· Providing individual client counselling (e.g. anger management, grief
counselling, assertiveness training);
· Using appropriate theoretical models to provide family counselling when required;
· Promoting the interests and rights of clients and families both within the
organization and with community agencies;
· Conducting assessments by utilizing interview techniques, observation, as
well as written and oral reports
(e.g. Pressures and Priorities, Out of Home Respite, CAS, Intake, etc.);
QUALIFICATIONS,
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
· BSW, registered
with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
· Five years direct clinical experience and experience.
· Knowledge of assessment principles and strategies, knowledge of family
functioning and family dynamics, case management principles with an
understanding of diagnostic criteria and clinical experience in assessment
formulation and report writing.
· Excellent knowledge of local community resources with extensive knowledge of community
services, Ministry programs and  relevant legislation and regulations.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to interact
effectively and sensitively with clients, families, staff and other service
providers are required.
· Knowledge of procedure, policies and professional standards.
· Good computer skills, time management and organizational skills.
· Valid class G driver’s licence, access to own vehicle.
· Ability to meet the physical demands of the job and attend work on a regular
basis.
· Experience in the field of developmental disabilities an asset.
HOURS OF
WORK:     29 hours per week
WAGE: Commensurate with experience
