social enterprise An excellent career development opportunity
Industry: Nonprofit/International Development
Function: Human Capital Development
Employer: One Acre Fund
Job Title: Corporate University Associate
Job Location: Rural Rwanda
Duration: Minimum 2 years commitment, full-time job
Organization Description
Most of the world’s poor are farmers, representing the
largest and most uniform group of poor people in the world. One A

cre Fund is a
growing social enterprise in Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, and Tanzania that is
innovating a new way of helping farm families to achieve their full potential.
Instead of giving handouts, One Acre Fund invests in farmers to generate
a permanent gain in farm income. We provide farmers with a “service
bundle” that includes education, finance, seed and fertilizer, and market
facilitation. Our program is proven impactful – every year, we weigh thousands
of harvests and measure 50-100% average gain in farm income per acre. We have
laser-like focus on generating better lives for the people that we serve.

We are growing quickly. In eight years, we have grown
to serve 180,000 farm families with more than 2,000 full-time field staff. Our
approach has won widespread validation, winning grants from The MasterCard
Foundation and Gates Foundation.
Job Description The Corporate
University Associate will be charged to take best-in-class “corporate
universities” worldwide and apply that to our operational and cultural context.
We currently employ more than 2,000 full-time local staff and we’re projected
to triple in size in three more years. As we grow, it becomes necessary to
centralize and systematize local employee development across the program.
This role combines human capital development with
entrepreneurship and management. The goal is to drive organizational goals
through employee learning and knowledge. Leadership development within the
organization goes hand-in-hand with team performance. A corporate university is
how we can attain that at scale.
Specific responsibilities:
· Competency measurement: Develop a model to take
inventory of current leadership competencies. Create a system to log and track
these competencies for all employees.
· Curriculum development and management: Design
curriculum that drives advances across all leadership competencies. Hire and
oversee a corps of teachers and trainers to implement this curriculum. Link
class performance back to organizational goals, and develop ways to measure
success through performance metrics.
· Outreach: Target internships and externships within
the country to broaden experiences and build networks. Arrange short-term
externships for our top leadership with other organizations. Select placement
internships for high-potential local talent in all departments across our
program.

also have regular one-on-one meetings, where we listen to and discuss career
goals, and work collaboratively to craft roles that each person can be
passionate about. Because of our rapid growth, we constantly have new
high-level roles opening up and opportunities in many functions. This results
in fast career growth for our staff.
