NRC Project Coordinator ICLA Job Vacancy in Liberia

NRC
has been working in Liberia since 2003 providing protection, humanitarian
assistance and durable solutions to individuals and communities affected by
displacement. The Information, counseling and legal assistance (ICLA) project
was founded in 2006 with the objective of addressing land conflict, tenure
security and access to land issues which were impeding the return of refugees
and IDPs. The project is organized around three inter-linked areas of activity:
land dispute resolution, capacity building and research and advocacy. The
project is undertaking a strategic transition in 2013, from resolving land
disputes directly, to focus on strengthening and consolidating the capacity of
our local partners to do this work.
Job
description 
 – Supervise and manage the implementation of
ICLA dispute resolution, capacity building and advocacy activities
 – Design and lead strategies to sustainably
transfer land dispute resolution skills, tools and capacity to communities,
civil society and government partners

Design and lead strategies to support the organizational development of ICLA’s
civil society partners

Monitor and advise the ICLA Team and partners on land conflicts and dispute
resolution strategies – Advise and mentor the ICLA Team in support of their
efforts to advance the goals of the project

Implement project performance monitoring and evaluation systems, analyse
results and implement changes – Document and prepare reports

Networking

Assess professional development needs and develop training opportunities

Contribute to the ongoing development of NRC’s Country Strategy and improved
integration of NRC programming in Liberia
Qualifications

Degree in law, human rights, development studies, geography, peace and conflict
studies, human ecology, social sciences or other relevant area
 – Three years experience in the humanitarian
or development sectors, including a minimum of two years experience managing
projects in the field

Experience with designing and managing organisational development and capacity
building activities

Formal training or practical experience in collaborative dispute resolution
programming

Experience with land dispute resolution, land tenure, land use planning
programming

Fluency in written English, French highly desirable
Personal
qualities
 – Excellent listening and communication
skills, empathy and emotional intelligence

Initiative, flexibility, creativity, resourcefulness and a good sense of humour

Ability to inspire and motivate colleagues and partners

Ability to work independently and with limited supervision

Patience, adaptability and the capacity to live and work in difficult

Duty station: Ganta, Nimba. Liberia’s towns are usually quiet and relatively
safe. Foreigners can normally move around without harassment or danger,
provided they follow security measures in place and respect local cultural
sensibilities. Housing in Liberia is shared, of a moderate standard and may be
in the same building as the office
