Our Student Support Services function makes an important contribution to the Nottingham Trent University student experience, providing a range of specialist and professional services for students in an integrated, multidisciplinary student services context across three University sites.

The Autism Support Service has been developed specifically in response to student demand, to ensure that we tailor support to the specific needs of this student group.
We are seeking a part-time Autism Support Mentor who will be responsible for providing one-to-one support for students registered with the Autism Support Service.

The post holder will be responsible for a range of duties including:
• Providing support tailored to the needs of the individual
• Delivering targeted transition support to new students
• Providing social support to enable students to access the wider aspects of students life
• Supporting student independence and autonomy in the learning environment
• Supporting the student in identifying the barriers to learning, and developing strategies to overcome them

We are seeking a committed and motivated individual with strong interpersonal skills to deliver this support. The successful candidate will have a strong awareness of the strengths which these students bring to a learning situation and will support the student to develop these strengths to their full potential.

This is a part-time role, and whilst the hours of work are negotiable, the successful candidate must be able to commit to a minimum of 10 hours per week during term time (30 weeks per year).
