This position is the primary Flood Duty Officer (24×7), maintaining flood operations and contingency strategies in accordance with Provincial and local service delivery standards. The position is responsible for issuing media releases as per the flood contingency plan and for being the media contact for interviews regarding flooding status.
The NVCA has 3 major dams and numerous water gauges that this position maintains. Site visits are required to ensure control structural operations and maintenance of equipment as well as the use of Visual Basics for data input/review.
Typically, the incumbent has a Degree or Technologist Diploma in Water Resources Engineering or related discipline, with 3 years experience. Knowledge of Excel, Visual Basics and GIS would be an asset. You have excellent communication and computer skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team. You must have a valid Ontario driver’s licence.
The Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority’s watershed is one of the fastest growing in Ontario and we are committed to providing a high quality of service to our clients. Salary range is (2011) $48,412 – $58,822, 35/hr. week, and is currently under review.
