Superintendent Environmental Monitoring – Ahafo Mine
Job
Description
The
successful candidate will report to the Environmental Manager. She/he will
develop and implement environmental monitoring programs in accordance with
internationally accepted protocols.
- Prepare External Environmental
Reports to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Minerals Commission
(MINCOM), Newmont Corporate and other agencies as required - Manage data collection process
and review documents to ensure quality and compliance required to
satisfy legal and regulatory reporting commitments - Oversee to the data collection,
storage, and interpretation of environmental monitoring data as
required in the Environmental Management Plan including water quality, air
quality, noise, meteorological, hydrologic monitoring programs among
others - Provide support to the relevant
departments regarding environmental issues - Assist and liaise with
EPA, MINCOM Office(s) inspectors and/or other (compliance) agency
officials for conducting environmental inspections

Required
Skills or Experience
- A first degree in Environmental
Science, Chemistry, Mining or Engineering related field - At least 7 years environmental
working experience in a mining or related industrial operations and 3
years in a similar position - Demonstrate thorough
understanding of Ghanaian Environmental Regulations, ISO 14001
Environmental Management Systems and Quality System ISO 17025 as they
apply to mining operations - Strong organizational,
interpersonal and communication skills
(HSLP) Trainer – Ahafo Mine
The
successful candidate will report to the HSLP Training Superintendent. She/he
will provide appropriate training skills in safety for the work force.
Essential
Duties:
- Assist in the design and
teaching of a quality Auditing program to meet ISO 14001/OHSAS 18001
Management Systems - Facilitate cultural training to
help bridge the differences in expatriates and Ghanaians - Investigate, research, and
design, as directed, revisions to currently taught topics and/or
design of new topics, relating to mine health and safety training - Ensure cost effective
competency-based training programs are delivered to participants to
develop the required competencies and values - Accept personal responsibility
for the health and safety of every employee and training
participant under or assigned to his/her supervision

Required
Skills or Experience
- A first degree in Occupational
Health & Safety and Health Professional qualification with SHE
auditing background - Experience with competency
based training, on and off the job - Strong interpersonal,
communication and leadership skills - Training qualification should
preferably be two years’ experience in the Mining Industry - Experience training in
Occupational Health and Safety, ISO 14001 / OHSAS 18001 Management Systems - Effectively manage time, meet
deadlines and have an eye for detail
Akyem Project
The
successful candidate will support the General Manager, Environmental and Social
Responsibility (ESR) to coordinate, monitor and evaluate all activities at the
site level.
Essential
Duties:
- Support with the development
and implementation of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) systems for the
Akyem Project - Provide training for the
M&E staff and sub-contractors in the application of M&E tools,
instruments, processes and methodologies - Provide logistical support and
planning of meetings and status-checks to analyze progress on activities
undertaken within the Social Responsibility team - Coordinate information flow and
activities about projects to internal and external stakeholders in the
form of ad-hoc reports as well as routine
monthly/quarterly/semi-annual/annual reports - Develop Standard Operating
Procedures (SOPs) for all tasks to be carried out by the M&E Unit

Required
Skills or Experience
- A first degree and a Masters in
a relevant discipline - Minimum of 6-7 years’ working
experience in the mining or related industrial operations. Technical
expertise in monitoring & evaluation at project level - A minimum of three years’
experience in managing direct reports with significant use of project
management tools - Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) - Effective communication and
leadership skills to communicate and coordinate internal program
activities - Extensive experience in dealing
with people in cross-cultural environments
The
successful candidate will be responsible for the acquisition of materials and
administration of contracts, primarily for low spend and or low risk.
Essential
Duties:
- Work with local suppliers and
Contractors Development Unit with the improvement and execution of
Newmont’s purchasing strategies,, policies and guidelines with respect to
materials categories and contracts - Accountable for value added,
cost savings and other performance metrics - Acquire cost effective quality
materials for operations - Process and purchase orders for
materials, equipment and services - Provide advice to improve
transactional practices for activities related to the materials purchasing
process

Required
Skills or Experience
- Minimum of Higher National
Diploma (HND) or a first degree in Supply Chain Management, Business
or related field or equivalent experience - Chartered Institute of
Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) professional qualification would be a plus - Two or more years of direct
procurement experience or equivalent combination of training and
experience. Mining experience is much preferred - Knowledge of SAP, Ellipse or
equivalent enterprises level software packages - Excellent written and verbal
communication skills
