Coordinator – 1 post – NASFAM – Blantyre
Based in Blantyre and requires minimum travelling to project areas in
Malawi. The UBALE Project Coordinator will report to NASFAM Business and
institutional development Manager but with indirect link to the UBALE
Secretariat
Is responsible for coordinating all project activities within project area and
to build farmer capacity in Marketing and Business development, empowering
smallholder farmers in business management a
nd creating linkages to profitable
and reliable produce Markets
Coordinate NASFAM/UBALE project activities to ensure smooth running of the
project, Build the institutional framework of the farmer led organisation to
manage business and marketing functions Coordinate with the District
Agribusiness Coordinators to train farmers in principles of marketing including
cost of production, collective marketing, negotiating and pricing, and provide
linkage to potential markets, Identify agricultural business opportunities and
agricultural investments, and translate them into realities with the full
ownership of the farmers in the process, Provide guidelines in the management
of crop production and marketing contract for the farmers with other buyers,
Link with the NASFAM Marketing development Unit to identify markets for the
farmers produce and facilitate all required processes, Prepare project work
plans, budgets and reports in a timely manner and as per donor requirements,
Supervise and monitor the work of District
Agribusiness Coordinators and Association Development Supervisors
Minimum qualifications of degree in agribusiness or business Administration, 5
yrs experience in project management, 3 yrs work experience in the field of
agribusiness, Good negotiating and communications skills, God planning skills
and ability to work independently, Good report writing skills, Hands-on
agribusiness management skills, commodity trading/marketing skills
