The Registered Nurse will ensure that the Mental Health/Home Care Nursing Services are sensitive and culturally appropriate to meet the needs of the First Nations Communities; work collaboratively with health care providers in providing holistic care that focuses on achieving and maintaining optimal health; Ensures timely, quality and compassionate care. Provides mental health services and follow-up for clients who are suffering chronic mental illness & chronic mental wellness issues, work with their families as well as community agencies. Provides advocacy for clients and their families as necessary and provides community education surrounding the needs of the chronic mentally ill. (mood disorders, alzheimer, dementia and schizophrenia.etc…)

QUALIFICATIONS:
* Knowledgeable and respectful of Anishnaabe customs, culture, and language
* Registered Nurse Diploma, currently registered with College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing; with any one of the following qualifications: Community Psychiatric Nursing experience, Native Community Health Nursing Program, Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree and/or Specialized Health Related Certification
* A member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario and possessing a current license to practice and RNAO registration.
* Experience in mental health and home care nursing within First Nation communities considered an asset.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Knowledge of available community resources.
* Current and clear CPIC
* Valid driver’s license
* Anishinaabemowin is a strong asset.
