Merlyn Power provides services in the renewable energy (RE) field, primarily solar thermal and electric energy systems for residential and light commercial use. The company was established in 2003 and is based in Kitchener, Ontario.

We are currently looking for a versatile, keen individual to fill the role of “Project Assistant”, helping in the management and installation of solar energy systems. The primary focus of this position will be projects under the MicroFIT and FIT program.

The ideal candidate will have some technical training specific to solar energy and/or general trade related competency and aptitude. Familiarity with construction and electrical theory is strongly preferred.

Excellent written and oral communications are a must, as well as the ability to handle multiple projects in parallel with a high degree of attention to detail. Computer skills are a necessity, as is a valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Primary job function will include:
• initial and ongoing customer interaction
• site assessment and documentation
• system sizing and planning
• preparing drawings and applications for electrical utilities, engineers and building authorities
• preparation of work instructions for installation teams
• project documentation for clients
• on-going technical support of installation operations

A lesser, but important, job function will be to assist as needed with the installation of solar PV systems. By necessity, tasks include the physical exertion associated with mounting different solar panel types on roofs of varying height and pitch.

The pay rate for this position ranges from $18- 20 per hour. This position is for full-time work Sept — Dec21st 2011. Details beyond this term to be discussed.
