Are you looking for meaningful work with a conservation organization
that helps build community? The Lone Pine Marsh Sanctuary, a small
land trust organization located in Northumberland County, seeks a
Part-time Coordinator. This position offers a variety of work
opportunities including a
ssisting the Board with ongoing
administrative tasks, coordination and implementation of new
stewardship plans, and planning and organization of outreach and
educational events. In addition, the Part time Coordinator will play a
key role in membership and volunteer capacity building, as well as
community partnership development.
The Lone Pine Marsh Sanctuary (LPMS) land trust is a small, locally
based, non-profit organization. Begun in 1991, with the purchase of a
provincially significant wetland located in Cramahe, LPMS has since
expanded and now holds several land tracts within the Cold Creek
Watershed and its surrounding lands and forests.
We are seeking a candidate who is flexible, passionate and
knowledgeable about conservation and environmental issues, innovative,
organized, community oriented, able to communicate effectively, and
interested in working with not for profits on organizational capacity
building.
Key Responsibilities:
The Part time Coordinator would work closely with a hands-on volunteer
Board of Directors to:
• develop, coordinate and implement three stewardship plans
• seek, develop and foster new partnerships and memberships to
increase collaboration between environmental organizations within the
community and area
• provide educational forums and materials to help engage and inform
members of the public
• work with volunteers, recruit new members, and facilitate retention
and renewal ?of existing members
• assist with the ongoing administrative duties such as grant
reporting and accountability, website maintenance, correspondence,
minutes, participation in partner and related organizational events
• research, design and carry out public outreach opportunities
including media opportunities and events
• write and distribute press releases
• design and produce promotional materials
• Commitment to conservation initiatives
• Post-secondary education in environment or conservation, or
demonstrated experience working in a similar organization in a related
field
• Creative, and disciplined self-starter who enjoys creating and
implementing new initiatives
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
• Strong computer skills—Microsoft Outlook, Office, Excel, PowerPoint
• Familiarity with Word Press an asset
• Familiarity and comfort using social media and digital media
• Demonstrated ability to manage outreach and capacity building initiatives
• Knowledge of Natural History and/or conservation planning would be a
strong asset
• Previous experience with grant reporting would be an asset

Commitment and Compensation:
This is a 1 year contract position for up to 450 hours, with the
possibility of a further 2 year extension. We offer variable and
flexible work hours, with some periods busier than others. The
successful candidate would work from their home office. The hourly
rate is $22.00.
