The Law Society represents solicitors in England and Wales. From negotiating with and lobbying the profession’s regulators, government and other decision makers, to offering training and advice, we’re here to help, protect and promote solicitors.
The Law Society is currently recruiting for the Head of International who will lead the development of the Law Society’s policy and lobbying work to ensure that the interests of the profession are taken forward effectively in Brussels and globally.
This high profile role will require the successful candidate to develop, promote and implement a strategy for promoting the profession’s interests abroad, through strong analysis of the policy, liaising with key members of profession and lobbying senior stakeholders overseas. The responsibilities cover a wide range of work from policy and law reform emanating from Brussels to the promotion of the profession’s interests in terms of practice rights in other jurisdiction. The post is supported by a team of 15 people, including the highly respected Brussels office.
To be successful you will be able to demonstrate the following:
• Educated to degree level, or the equivalent by experience
• Strong knowledge of the legal profession and the context in which it operates
• An understanding of the international political environment, and how this relates to the interests of the profession
• Strong people management skills
• Experience in an ambassadorial role, including influencing stakeholders at the highest level in major organisations
• Resource management experience
• Policy development experience
• Fluency in foreign languages would be very useful
