With a 24-hour
Emergency Department, state of the art cardiac services and a wide range of
on-site medical, surgical and allied health services, this private hospital has
nearly 80 years’ experience providing healthcare to the local and wider rural
community, and is the fastest gr
owing private hospital in South Australia.
Major plans are underway for ongoing development of the hospital and its
services, including a superb new comprehensive Cancer Centre and a large professional
medical consulting centre. Currently comprising of just over 200 beds,
with plans to take the hospital to 220 beds in the very near future.
Reporting directly
to the Hospital’s Director of Nursing and Clinical Services, the ADON –
Perioperative & Procedural Services is required to provide strategic
direction, clinical leadership and operational management of multiple operating
theatres, day surgeries, theatre recovery, CSSD and their ultra-modern and
highly impressive hybrid theatre.
This is a key position
for the hospital, as the ADON will be relied on for substantial strategic and
commercial input when attending Medical Advisory Committee meetings, and as a
member of their Private Executive team.
Ensuring efficient
theatre utilisation will be a key focus of the role, in particular, with KPI’s
involving staff rostering, recruitment and retention, staff development
and meeting quality clinical indicators.
Key stakeholder
relationship management of VMO’s is a high priority for this role, in
particular with respect to theatre allocations, scheduling, utilisation
efficiency, and higher acuity services particularly neurosurgery, the hybrid
theatre and other advances in technology that impact the nursing staff
requirements.
The ADON –
Perioperative & Procedural Services also works closely with the VMO
Relationship Manager and Clinical Commercial Manager to ensure that the
business operates in conjunction with the strategic and commercial goals of the
business.
Requirements
of the role:
- Registered
Nurse currently registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of
Australia - Extensive
post registration clinical experience - Appropriate
post-graduate management qualifications or equivalent, or working
towards same - Minimum
10 years’ theatre and /or ED nursing - Well-developed
clinical competency in theatre with at least 5 years’ experience in
theatre supervisory or management roles

strategies to improve organisational performance - Strong
written and verbal communication skills
