IRC Liberia seeks a Grants Manager to assist in implementing a portfolio in the area of public health, child protection, youth development and education and women’s protection and empowerment. The IRC is also working in the area of refugee response. S/he must possess the skills and resilience to monitor and coordinate as required donor reports, contracts and, in close cooperation with the country director, donor outreach. S/he must be able to manage complex budgets, possess excellent English writing skills and able to produce and edit program reports on tight deadlines. In addition, the successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to humanitarian and development work, and be able to maintain the highest possible standards while working in remote and challenging locations.
Responsibilities
Grants and Donor Compliance:
• Work with Program Coordinators and Managers to ensure timely submission of high quality project reports
• Ensure compliance to IRC and donor regulations, including timely submission of reports, adherence to donor and IRC procurement, financial, logistical and reporting requirements
• Monitor grant spending and draw the attention of the Country Director and sector Coordinators to significant budget variation
• Ensure contractual agreements between IRC and donors, as well as between IRC and sub-grantees, are done in respect of IRC policies and procedures and to the advantage and protection of the IRC
Monitoring:
• Assist the program team in monitoring the progress and reporting on project indicators through field visits, report reviews and liaison with the program managers;
• Document success stories as observed in current programs, collect information and photographs to enhance the quality of reports.
Learning and Capacity Building:
• Support staff in improving the quality of donor reporting and budget management;
• Actively contribute to the sharing of relevant data, information and ideas within IRC Liberia
• Work closely with staff to improve writing and reporting skills.
Program Design and Proposal development:
• Coordinate with the sector Coordinators, Finance Controller and Manager, Deputy Director, and Country Director, the preparation and submission of quality proposals, concept notes, etc.
• Work with sector coordinators to develop proposals, concept notes and ideas for competitive and non-competitive opportunities
• Support finance and sector coordinators to develop budgets for new proposals with consideration of all operational and program needs.
• Maintain a donor liaison database and liaise with donors to identify funding opportunities and strategic alignment.
Requirements
• A degreed professional with a strong background in all aspects of project management and/or grants management,
• At least 2 years of international work experience in relief or development programs;
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to determine priorities and meet multiple deadlines;
• Detail-oriented with good multi-tasking abilities and communication skills, both oral and written;
• Able to work well both within a team and independently, in a challenging and fast-moving multicultural environment
• Willingness to travel to the field
• Excellent computer skills and competency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Excellent English oral and written skills a pre-requisite.
