Position Title: Driver
Classification: Ungraded (equivalent to UN Salary Scale for GS staff)
Type of Appointment: 1 month with possibility of extension on daily contract basis
General Functions:
Under the overall supervision of the Programme Manager and Head of Office and the direct supervision of the Project Officer for day to day duties, the incumbent’s responsibilities will include:
1. Being responsible for the safety and security of vehicle, staff and cargo, ensuring that road discipline and traffic rules are observed.
2. Carrying out a full check of the vehicle every morning before driving of.
3. Ensuring that in case of accident, the accident is reported to the police and the supervisor.
4. Maintaining the vehicle road logbook at all times.
5. Ensuring cleanliness of the vehicle at all times.
6. Maintaining a checklist of spares, jack, toolbox to ensure care and accountability.
7. Ensuring that the keys are retuned to the safe at the end of the day.
8. Advising the Supervisor of anything unusual on the vehicle be it mechanical or otherwise.
9. Keeping track of service, insurance and registration dates and alerting the supervisor well in advance.
10. Making weekly reports on vehicle status to be shared with the supervisor.
11. Using the vehicle for official use only.
12. Performing any other duties as may be assigned.
Desirable Qualifications:
• Completion of High school education, desirable
• Valid Driving License
• 5 years continuous driving experience
• Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repairs
• Good knowledge of routes within Rwanda
• Good knowledge and working experience with VHF Radios
• Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills
• IOM functional competencies required: effective communications skills both written and oral, capable negotiator, creative analytical thinker, active learner/good listener and cross cultural facilitator working within a multi-cultural environment.
• Flexible in terms of working hours.
Languages: Thorough knowledge of English and/or French.
