Organization: InanItah
Location: Isla de Ometepe, Nicaragua, Central America
We are a consciously created, earth-based spiritual community and
transformational living and learning centre ins
pired by the path of freedom and
aliveness. Our vision is to raise spiritual and environmental consciousness and
create space for individual and collective transformation.
We are situated between fire and water volcanoes, tucked against the hillside
of Volcán Maderas on biologically incredibly diverse 22 acres. Our peaceful
natural surroundings are framed by panoramic views of both volcanoes and epic
sunsets over the lake. Isla de Ometepe has a rich spiritual ancestry and once
served as a sacred Indian burial ground, with evidence to this day of both
Incan and Native American settlements. We began cultivating and building in
2009, and are in the midst of various natural building and Permaculture
projects, which are heavily supported by our volunteers. We also offer
workshops and gatherings throughout the year, alongside their various ongoing
activities.
We have two different types of opportunities for volunteers depending on length
of commitment and skill set: the Explorer Program for shorter-term volunteering
and the Collaborator Program for a more in-depth experience. If you have a
special skill (e.g., yoga teacher, carpenter, or website developer), we are
also open to negotiate an individualized co-creater agreement.
This post is for the longer-term opportunity, the Collaborator Program. If you
are interested in a shorter stay, please refer to our other posting for the
Explorer-role.
The Collaborator Program is open to returning volunteers and people looking to
make a 3 month commitment to volunteer. As an InanItah Collaborator, it is your
role to help hold a vibration of joyful service to the community. You will
participate in the regular morning volunteer meetings and workflow hours in
addition to having defined areas of responsibility (e.g., the kitchen or
accommodations). Collaborators spots are available for returning volunteers or
people with relevant skills and experience in their area of responsibility.
These spots are limited so please enquire with your application. Collaborators
are committed to 25-30 hours of work a week and US$275 a month. Special Skills
– If you have as special skill and are willing and able to spearhead projects
that fit with our current needs, individualized co-creator agreements are
available (discounts or full work-trade agreements can be negotiated, depending
on our current needs and your specific skills). We are looking for peo ple with
a good degree of experience in their area of focus and who exhibit a high level
of responsibility and self-directedness. We are sometimes in need of
photographers, skilled natural builders, appropriate technology engineers,
website developers, experienced yoga teachers, and skilled artists. Special
skills trade can be for long or short periods of time, depending on the skill
being offered and the co-creation in play.
