Overview
Ihumure Vocational Training College (IVTC) is institution owned by Eglise Vivante Gatenga,with the vision of empowering the Rwandan youth (especially the disadvantaged ones) with employable skills. The school is based in Nyarugunga sector, Kicukiro District at Ndera road. Currently the school has four option (Carpentry, Construction, Welding or metal work and Electricity), we have 50 student enrolled in all departments
Job description
The managing director will have:
• Responsibility for the overall development of the IVTC
• Responsibility for financial oversight, budgeting and accounting integrity of the IVTC
• Responsibility for the strategic direction and planning of the IVTC
• Responsibility for the ongoing capacity building of the IVTC
• Responsibility to implement directives from the board of directors
• Responsibility for academic calendars, admission criteria and procedures, correct record keeping by IVTC staff and for problem solving of difficult student issues
• Responsibility for overseeing the technical and teaching standards of the school are maintained to the highest level, including the prompt and suitable use of accreditation criteria
• Responsibility for effective use of human resources and the associated budgetary controls
• Responsibility to supervise and evaluate staff
• Responsibility for the planning of academic and pedagogical activities and design of working arrangements and documents
• Responsibility for ensuring health and safety and general good practice at the IVTC
• Responsibility for ensuring the Christian ethos of the VTC is maintained
• Responsibility to produce baseline indicators and evaluation criteria
• Responsibility for the effective staffing and recruitment of the IVTC
• Responsibility for overseeing correct reporting for sponsorship programmes at the IVTC
Qualifications and Experience:
Appropriate recognised qualifications for VTC management, preferably
• A bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate subject
• Fluency in English
• A strong and live Christian commitment
• 5 years of experience in education
• Previous experience in overseeing a similar sized training centre
• A proven record of developing financial self-sustainability within a similar sized organisation
• Proven ability to manage a VTC sized budget and ensure taxes, wages and invoices are paid on time
• Strategic understanding of staffing and recruitment
• Excellent communication skills and good practice in following up correspondence
• Strong inspirational and motivational skills
• Clear strategic planning skills and the ability to develop and present future plans to a high standard
• Good competence in handling data necessary for baseline indicators and evaluation criteria
• No conflict of interest in ensuring the interests of the IVTC are always of primary importance to IVTC management
• Good personal time management and effective working practices
• Proven ability to manage and organise other staff to create an efficient and motivated staff, including ability to team-build.
