Location: Brantford-Ancaster, Ontario
We are looking for full time intern from now until Thanksgiving who has an interest in learning about organic farming practices, including farming with horses. Our 57-acre organic farm is east of Brantford, in a beautiful setting, right on the rail trail running from Brantford to Hamilton. We farm with our Belgian horses as much as possible to reduce pollution and our dependency on oil.
We include everyone in the running of the farm and respect everyone’s opinion, and have a little fun along the way. We sell our produce through a small CSA and at two markets. We have laying hens, and our sheep work as four legged lawnmowers.
Qualifications
• A strong interest in organic farming and permaculture
• Previous education and/or work experience in organic agriculture is preferred.
• Hard-working, in good physical shape, energetic and highly motivated
• Good communication and interpersonal skills;
• Able to work and live in a cooperative environment
Responsibilities and Opportunities:
• Hands on learning including all aspects of market gardening, livestock care, haying and tree care,
• Interns may also participate in off grid home construction and community work related to farmland preservation, conservation easements and co-op farm ownership/slow money
• Visits to local organic farms
• Interns should expect to work some Saturdays selling at a farmers market,
• Interns are also expected to take part in household chores, and cooking

• shared vegetarian meals,
Stipend:
Based on profit sharing, minimum $400/month
