Health & Safety Coordinator: (Excluded Position)
Reporting to the Manager Corporate Health & Safety, Environment, the incumbent will be responsible for the management of all Health & Safety related programs at the Winnipeg facility.
Accountabilities: The individual will assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of health & safety programs including preparation and delivery of associated training.
The candidate should have a solid foundation and working knowledge of occupational health & safety programs (i.e. lockout/tagout, PPE, confined space entry, chemical handling and storage, etc.), WHMIS, and experience conducting job hazard analyses, monitoring indoor air quality and assessing exposure to chemical/physical agents.The candidate should posses a sound working knowledge of all current federal and provincial health and safety legislation and be familiar with occupational safety and health best practices.
The individual should be comfortable assessing manufacturing processes and reviewing and interpreting scientific information and data.
The individual will function as a resource during emergency response situations, and assist in the investigation and review of all accident/incident and associated reports and the development of corrective action to eliminate recurrence and mitigate safety risks.
The individual will also be responsible for ensuring submission of reports to regulatory authorities and dissemination of information and reports to senior management and OSH Committees.
The incumbent should be familiar with the OSH 18001 management system and standard and also have experience in the development, implementation, and operation of this system in a manufacturing facility.
Qualifications/Skills: The candidate will demonstrate proven leadership and excellent communication and language skills as well as a good understanding of relevant health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
Post-secondary education in Health & Safety or other related Science field is required.
CIH or CRSP certification is preferred.
Minimum of three (3) years work experience in the field of Health & Safety, preferably in a manufacturing operation and a combined unionized and non-unionized environment. Detailed working knowledge of the Canada Labour Code Part II and other relevant Federal and Provincial Health & Safety legislation.
Interested applicants should have working knowledge of computer packages such as Microsoft Office, Excel and Word. The candidate should be able to work well under pressure and effectively deal with changing priorities.
The individual must have strong problem solving and critical thinking skills and have the ability to lead projects to completion.
