Job
Description: Garden and Food Program Leaders (English)
Garden and Food
Program Leaders design, develop, implement and evaluate programs for children,
youth and families on public lands throughout summer. They will be responsible
for running daily programs that engage about 1,500 individuals over the summer
months. They will learn skills and techniques in urban agriculture and transmit
this information by engaging to other members of the community in activities
designed as both recreational and educational. As their own skills and
experience grows over the summer, they are matched with youth volunteers as
mentors. They also participate in field trips to local farms for a greater
understanding of farming as a career. Drawing on their own studies, students
are encouraged to develop lesson plans and activities that deepen their
practical experience in their chosen fields.
