Context
of the role
The
role of Junior Strategist responds to a critical business need for Girl Effect
Rwanda to deliver entertaining and informative behavioral change branded media
content.   
This
is an exciting and broad role which offers a unique opportunity to work with
and learn from a senior team of international resear

ch, gender and brand
specialists and be instrumental in guiding the creative and content strategies
of one of the biggest and most innovative branded media organizations in Rwanda.
The role requires a candidate who is flexible and collaborative, has a passion
and aptitude for creative thinking and ability to work with a broad,
multidisciplinary team.

The
role will be responsible for supporting content and brand strategy across content,
marketing and digital activities and working closely with our Insights Managers
to ensure research and gender expertise are imbued in all brand work.
Key
Responsibilities
Support
the shaping and setting of content and creative briefs to ensure all of Girl
Effects work delivers to our strategic objectives and maximises the positive
impact we have on the lives of girls.
Skills
and Experience
  • With
    support from the Insights Managers, conduct secondary research and
    literature reviews into gender, cultural and market research in order to
    inform brand decision making.
  • Be
    responsible for continual cultural, market and competitor analysis to
    ensure Girl Effects brand and media activities chime with and stay abreast
    of Rwanda culture and market place.
  • Support
    the Digital Manager in analysing digital and social media content and
    activities.
  • Support
    the Qualitative Insights Manager and Senior. Strategy and Insights Manager
    in the writing and development of research briefs to meet ongoing brand
    needs.
  • Support
    the in-house Qualitative Researchers and Qualitative Insights Manager in
    analysis and dissemination of research findings and lead on the
    integration of recommendations into brand and content strategy.
  • Review
    and feed into the creation of creative content and marketing and digital
    activities in order to ensure activities are in keeping with strategic
    brand and behavioural change objectives.
  • Support
    Senior Strategy and Insights Manager and Country Director in communicating
    Girl Effect Rwanda’s brand strategy and activities to Girl Effect Global.
  • Play
    a key role in embedding brand-thinking and an understanding of a brand-led
    approach within the Girl Effect Rwanda team.
Skills
and Experience
  • Minimum
    Undergraduate Degree or equivalent in research, brand and marketing,
    communications or social sciences related fields.
  • Excellent
    analytical and interpersonal skills with the confidence and ability to
    engage with a range of senior specialists.
  • Excellent
    written and verbal communication skills in English and Kinyarwanda.
  • Ability
    to understand, process and play back complex topics and themes.
  • Curiosity
    and thirst for knowledge, new ideas and ways of working.
  • Demonstrable
    passion for creativity.
  • Culturally
    aware and respectful – curious and sensitive about the cultures in which
    we operate.
