Volunteer Coordinator
Gamiing Nature Centre is a not-for-profit charitable organization which focuses on environmental awareness, healthy living and gaining and understanding of the natural world around us. Our goal is to promote stewardship and enjoyment of nature. We provide educational experiences that actively engage the community in balancing human needs with nature in our everyday life; discovering plants, animals, birds and aquatic life; becoming stewards of our common environment, including water, land and air; and working towards a sustainable ecosystem for future generations.
Our volunteers work on lakeshore restoration projects, in the native nursery, assist with our outdoor education programs or support administrative duties.
Our Volunteer Coordinator manages all elements of volunteering on behalf of the organization. The role involves assessing the organization’s needs and then meeting those needs through the recruitment, placement and retention of volunteers.
The Volunteer Coordinator manages volunteers and their relationship with those they come into contact with, including employees and service users of our organization and monitors, evaluates and accredits volunteers.
Expected qualifications:
• Demonstrated examples of leadership skills, especially among peer group
• Strong interpersonal, organizational skills and project management skills
• Ability to motivate and inspire others and lead by example
• Demonstrated initiative
• Ability to recognize problems quickly and apply sound solutions
A College diploma and/or University degree with at least 3 years experience in the non-profit sector would be an asset.
This is a 3 year contract position.
