Position Summary
We are looking for outstanding and experienced Reproductive, Maternal, and Newborn Health (RMNH) Specialists in Malawi to work on new and potential programmes on sexual, reproductive, maternal, and child health; family planning ; social marketing and other forms of private sector engagement; health systems strengthening; gender; research; health administration; public health; and/or related issues.
Key Responsibilities
• Under direction of the Team Leader, design and implement strategies according to programme requirements.
• Provide technical and strategic advice pertaining to relevant content areas.
• Build technical and institutional capacity of government, private sector, and nongovernmental partners in relevant content areas.
• Coordinate and monitor programme activities at the national level and/or in priority regions and districts, as required.
• Contribute to the preparation of project technical deliverables, presentations, work plans, and budgets.
Qualifications
• Strong technical grasp of one or more of the following: sexual and reproductive health issues, family planning , maternal and child health, social marketing and other forms of private sector engagement, health systems strengthening, social development , gender and other social determinants of poor health, especially amongst poorer women and girls, research, health administration, public health, related sectors that affect health, and/or reaching underserved populations;
• Demonstrated ability to work constructively with a range of in-country partners, including the government, private sector groups, nongovernmental, faith-based, and community-based organisations and networks in Malawi, at national and decentralised levels;
• Understanding of health market dynamics and the health system in Malawi;
• Knowledge of other regional and/or international best practices;
• Experience monitoring and evaluating sexual and reproductive health programmes and/or promoting the use of data for decision-making;
• At least 10 years of experience supporting government health initiatives or DFID, European Union, USAID, KfW, World Bank, and other donor-funded programmes;
• Excellent written and spoken English required, local languages are a distinct advantage; and
• Advanced degree/s in relevant disciplines preferred.
