Do you dream of a world in which education happens outdoors, through
immersion in nature? Would you like to help shape emerging education
programs that encourage children to connect deeply with natural places
in the community?
The Fresh Air Learning program is a registered charity that creates
outdoor learning programs for children. We’re looking for a teacher
who’d like to work with our children, parents, and community members
to shape our new two day program for elementa
ry school students. You

The New Westminster Homelearners program is beginning a weekly outdoor
forest and gardening program for its thriving community of
homelearners. You can find more details about the program here:

In each program, you will work as a co-facilitator with the program’s
teachers. You do not need to be a certified teacher to apply.
You have:
• Extensive experience working outdoors with children, facilitating
child-led learning, supporting children’s questioning and exploration,
and acting as a mentor
• Experience in the areas of traditional or primitive skills, organic
gardening, and permaculture design
• A love of storytelling and art inspired by and connected to the outdoors
• An attachment orientation, with solid nonviolent communication skills
• Experience building community with diverse groups of children,
parents, local organizations, and community members
• The ability to receive feedback, initiate and participate in
discussion, and build community through constructive discussion
Position Details:
Three days a week, $21.68 per hour plus 12% in lieu of benefits
Location: New Westminster (Hume Park), Maplewood Farm, and the Lower
Seymour Conservation Reserve. All locations are transit-accessible. We
welcome applicants who are available for both locations or only the
North Shore or New Westminster.
Start date: Late August, with some meetings before that to help build
our community.
