Designer

Job Overview
Reporting to the Manager, Advertising the
Graphic Designer will handle in-store POS, POP, brochures, direct mail
pieces,
advertising, flyer, web, email, mobile, etc. as well as internal visual
communication pieces. Day-to-day activities are done with minimum
supervision.
Understand objectives of a design piece and translate into a creative,
and
stimulating visual. Take ownership of all phases of a project from start
to
finish.
Accountabilities :
Creative Development
•
Support creative (print and digital) development
within Marketing department
•
Produce concepts and creative for ad hoc print projects
as required
•
Implement effective design ideas
Brand Control and Ownership
Coordinate all activities with respect to above to:
•
a) ensure quality control & ownership, and
•
b) provide detailed briefs in order to accomplish
objectives.
Design & Production
•
Produce concepts and creative for
print projects including Experience Magazine, direct mail, TYR materials,
brochures, etc.
•
Lead creative on all digital
touch points (Longos.com, grocerygateway.com, emails, digital screens
cash
screens, social media, youtube.com, and mobile)
•
Develop digital designs in
support of end user goals and objectives
•
Gather and implement effective
design ideas
•
Develop digital POS creative for
seasonal launches, events and initiatives.
•
Modifying HTML Code for landing
pages and email
•
Deliver on project scope and key messages as
outlined on briefs
•
Customer Service:
Ensure projects are on track
against timelines
Consults and reviews project brief
and creative proofs with client.
Interacts with outside vendors on
project deliverables and any potential technical issues that may arise
Job Knowledge, Skills & Credentials:
•
Degree/Diploma in Marketing /Graphic Design
•
Minimum 5-7 years of experience in the
Graphics/Advertising field in sales/promotion design and development
•
Work proficiently in a MAC environment with an
in-depth knowledge of all design related software applications such as
InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat
•
Experience in a retail environment is preferred
•
Experience in research design solutions and
maintaining and organizing files
•
Ability to execute projects from rough concepts to
the finished product for print
•
Knowledgeable in all aspects of graphic design;
layout, publication design, typography, colour theory, prepress and
post-production processes
•
Ability to develop innovative design solutions in
accordance with company requirements and within brand standards
Working Environment :
•
Work is performed in a standard office environment
with participation in meetings at the office
•
Ability to manage multiple projects and changing
priorities with regular deadlines
•
Travel to various stores, office and Warehouse
locations required
•
Ability to work a variety of shifts including –
evenings, weekends and holidays as business needs require
•
Review, input and analyze large volumes of data on
the computer daily for long periods of time
•
Process high volumes of customer requests
simultaneously
