Chief Executive Officer
Salary Range £32,000 – £42,000
The Free Representation Unit is a small, vibrant Central London legal charity that has punched well above its weight since its inception in 1972. It is now the UK’s largest provider of pro bono legal representation. Every year FRU volunteers represent around a thousand people principally in employment, social security and criminal injuries tribunals. FRU maintains good links with the tribunals, and is highly regarded across the Bar as one of few places at which future barristers can gain practical advocacy experience before the start of their careers.
FRU’s Chief Executive, Clive Tulloch, will be retiring in October this year. FRU is therefore looking for a new Chief Executive who can manage a small team of committed staff, coordinate the work of the Unit and represent the organisation at all levels.
The right candidate will enjoy working with enthusiastic young people and have experience of management as well as a strong commitment to charitable work and fund-raising. Legal qualifications are not necessary.
The new Chief Executive will:
• Co-ordinate and manage all aspects of the organisation
• Advise and assist the Management Committee in making appropriate strategic, policy and financial decisions to further the Unit’s charitable objectives
• Raise funds for the Unit
• Represent the Unit externally
