Requirements
This position is
provided through the Canada Summer Jobs initiative. To apply, you must:
– be between the ages of 15 and 30,
– have been registered as full-time students in the previous academic year and
intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year,
– be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee
protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act,
and
– be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial
or territorial legislation and regulations.
Preference will be given to students with disabilities, Aboriginal students,
and students who are members of a visible minority.
Hours:
40 hours/week; Tuesday – Saturday, 10:30AM – 6:30PM
Duration:
10 weeks
Wages:
$10.45/hour
All interns will receive a discount on items in our shop, and can be provided
with a letter of reference after the successful completion of their internship.
These positions are a great way to learn additional skills while making a
difference for our community and the environment.
EDUCATION
LEAD
The Education Lead
will assist the Volunteer and Materials Coordinator with helping volunteers in
our warehouse.
Duties
– Assist in
designing volunteer training schedules and systems
– General volunteer coordination support, including providing new volunteers
orientation and leading regular open house tours of the computer recycling
facility introducing e-waste and ethical recycling
– Respond to inquiries about our volunteer program & orientations
– Train volunteers on specific stations.
– Input data related to volunteer programs,
– Assist Volunteer Coordinator in planning and implementing volunteer rewards
programs
– Provide support to other departments and assist staff as needed
– Respond to inquiries about all of Free Geek’s programs
– Data entry for staff as needed (familiarity with Thunderbird, Firefox and
Ubuntu a plus)
