Greening Sacred Spaces
Summer Student Position – Multifaith Networker
Faith & the Common Good is a Canadian interfaith network supporting
faith communities in seeking common ground for the common good,
primarily through the Greening Sacred Spaces program of practical
environmental sustainability programs. The organization and its
programs are intentionally interfaith and inclusive. The Ottawa
Chapter of Greening Sacred Spaces is seeking a Summer Student to serve
as a Multifaith Networker.
SCOPE OF WORK
The duties are as follows:
• Conduct all activities and business in accordance with the
ecological and spiritual purpose and mission of Faith & the Common
Good.
• Submit regular progress and tracking reports
• Support the Greening Sacred Spaces (GSS) program in faith
communities in the Ottawa region in collaboration with the local
Representative. This includes working with localGreen Teams on
sustainability projects, including various Green Actions & Green
Events, and/or other greening initiatives.
• Assist in research and case study development for the Mission Per
Square Foot project
• Coordinate communications locally, including special articles
promoting the GSS program
• Coordinate outreach to Francophone communities to identify and
liaise with representatives from each faith community and maintain
records of all contacts and voluntary contributions made by that faith
community.
• Represent and promote Faith & the Common Good at meetings and
outreach events as they arise in the community;
QUALIFICATIONS
• Must be bilingual
• Must meet the eligibility requirements of the Canada Summer Jobs
program as defined by Service Canada, including:
• Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
• Have been registered as full-time students in the previous academic
year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next
academic year;
• Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee
protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee
Protection Act; and,
• Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant
provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
COMPENSATION AND TERM
8 weeks between June and August, ideally starting mid-June
30 hours per week
$11.50/hr
