Fainting

This is a state of
temporary unconsciousness due to reduced blood supply to the brain. It is of
short term in nature.
Causes
(1)Exhaustion

(2) Loss of blood due to
haemorrhage

(3) Shock
(4) Confinement in a hot,
moist, stuffy atmosphere
(5) Pain
(6) Fear.
Signs and Symptoms
(1)The face becomes pale
(2) Person feels dizzy and
giddy
(3) The pulse becomes weak
and feeble
(4) The skin is cold and
clammy
(5) Unconsciousness.
Treatment
1.      Help the person to sit down
on a chair.
2.      Open the window if the
person is indoors. Loosen tight clothing round the neck, chest and waist. A
drink of cold water can be given.
3.      If the patient has actually
passed into a state of unconsciousness apply artificial respiration.
4.      If consciousness does not
return within few minutes, send for medical aid.
