Job Title: Business Manager – Franchised Network
Area: Dar Es Salaam
Position Description:
Manages business operations of the Franchise operations. Manages franchise
marketing communication to health facilities and public. Coordinates
recruitment of the new facilities and oversees training of providers and
owners. Manages health financing initiatives. Identifies cost drivers of
franchise operations and suggests areas of improvement.
1. Management of reporting staff
· Set annual MBOs to Training Coordinator. Responsible for semi-annual and
annual performance review of reporting staff. Contributes to setting MBOs and
performance review of field teams.
· Actively builds capacity of reporting through regular supervision, training
and coaching. Identify capacity building needs and ensure that it is included
in capacity building plan.
2. KRA – Management of franchise operations
· Actively contribute to the development and oversees implementation of the
franchise business operation model. Coordinate development of Franchisor and
Franchisee Manuals and SOPs.
· Responsible for regular updating and timely signing of Franchise agreement
with the Facilities.
· Actively develop and maintain relationship with Franchise facilities owners.Manage
dissemination of information to facility owners through a variety of medium
including regular emails, meetings, bulletins, conferences, etc. Ensure that
facility owners receive regular feedback on the performance of the providers in
their facilities.
· Ensure facility owners are in full understanding of franchise principles,
goals, and strategies. Ensure facility owners contribute to the development of
franchise strategies. Assist facility owners to design strategies to retain
trained providers in their facilities.
· Coordinate and oversee implementation of business skills training to the
facility owners
· Identifies facilities’ needs in equipment and coordinates distribution of the
procured equipment.
· Coordinate and oversee expansion of franchise operations across Tanzania in
line with donor deliverables. Coordinate recruitment and de-listing of the
facilities to/from the network.
· Coordinate development of performance improvement plans to low performing
facilities.
3. KRA- Manage APHFTA relationship
· Maintain relationship with APHFTA. Oversee APHTA work plan implementation.
Suggest new ways of cooperation between PSI, APHTA and facilities
4. KRA – Contribute to development oversee implementation of
marketing/communication plans for franchise network
· Ensure brand visibility at the community and facility level. Ensure
communication and promotional campaigns in field level and materials are in
line with the brand values and brand promise.
· Identify providers’ needs in job aids, promotional and other materials.
Coordinates the development and distribution of providers’ materials including.
5. KRA – Financial planning and development support for franchise facilities
· Assist in the development and implementation of franchise budget.
· Defines franchise productivity standards. Identifies main cost drivers in
franchise operations and recommends cost saving strategies.
· Develops and implements reward and incentive schemes to the facility owners
and providers.
· Assist in development and oversees implementation of health financing
initiatives including health insurance
6. KRA – MIS database reports
· Maintains facilities and providers database (MIS) ensuring that it is
regularly updated. Utilizes routine MIS data to monitor and assess franchise
facilities performance against defined productivity standards.
· Contributes to the development of client satisfaction surveys.
7. KRA – Prepare management reports when required
· Prepares monthly/quarterly/adhoc reports to communicate achievements/lessons
learned to management, PSI staff, donors, stakeholders and government
8. KRA – Maintain good stakeholder relations
· Fosters good relationship with MOH regional and district officials; Promotes
franchise network to the government officials when applicable

First degree in marketing or management. Excellent Excel skills
Relevant working experience:
3-5 years – Experience in project management. Experience in managing networks
is a plus. Experience in managing health facilities is a plus
