Job summary: Description of the purpose of the job
To manage the financial affairs
of EDCL by ensuring effective cost management, effective use of financial
resources and compliance to statutory requirements.
Direct and coordinate activities
of the financial and business area with other facets of the EDCL, including
establishing and maintaining quality standards of accounting (in accordance
with “Generally Accepted Accounting Principles”) and advisory support to the
Planning and Investment Unit

Strategic Planning

Participate in strategic and financial planning as an integral member of the
Leadership Team

Provide recommendations on operational and strategic issues based on financial
analysis and
projections.
3 Develop
long-term budgetary planning and cost management in alignment with EDCL’s (and
REG) strategic plan and business
objectives
4 Lead the
continual improvement of
accounting and administrative
operational systems,
processes and policies.

5 Develop and maintain timely and
accurate financial statements and reports that are appropriate for
the users and in accordance with
generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

Oversee the general accounting function which includes inter-company transactions,
cash
management/reconciliation
for
multiple accounts,
financial
reporting and
balance sheet
management
7 Monitor the maintenance of
EDCL’s financial records in compliance with REG accounting policies
and GAAP
8 Ensure that there is adequate
technology in place to meet the organization’s financial data
processing, control, and
reporting requirements.
9 Review accounting activities to
ensure that a standard level of internal and other relevant controls
and techniques are consistently
applied
10 Develop work procedures and
work-flow processes to effect the necessary controls on the organisation’s
assets and operations.
