Electric Shock

In electric shock, current may pass through the
breathing centre at the base of the brain and cause this centre to stop sending
out the nervous impulses which act upon the muscles responsible for breathing.

Sign and Symptoms of
Electric Shock
·     
Victim becomes unconscious, but heart beat and
blood circulation continue though irregularly and then stop.
·     
Frying of muscles, nerves and blood vessels
·     
Skin burns.
Treatment
·        
As soon as the victim is clear of live
conductor, rapidly feel with your finger in his mouth and throat and remove any
foreign body (tobacco, false teeth, etc.)
·        
Open casualty air way.
·        
If they are not breathing begin mouth to mouth
respiration.
·        
If they have obvious burns, remove any clothing
and rinse burn under cool, running water.
