There
would be no significant relationship between existence and single parenthood in

would be no significant relationship between existence and single parenthood in
Oghara community.
From the
result of the analysis of data collected, the calculated x2 value is
106.5 is greater than the critical value of 0.05 at 9df which is 16.92, which
leads to the rejection of the null research hypothesis which states that there would be no significant relationship between
existence and single parenthood in Oghara community, while the alternative research hypothesis which
states that significant
relationship between existence and single parenthood in Oghara community was accepted. The researcher hereby concluded that
single parenthood exists in Oghara community. This is in line with Kamerumau and Khan (2011) which stated that
globally most families are undergoing a transition from two-parent families to
one-parent ones, giving rise mostly to the emergence of single mother families.
Also Pollitt (2009) states that single parent family which is a household which
only one parent lives with a child or children is currently on the increase
throughout the world.

From the result of the analysis of data collected,
the calculated x2 value is 75.7 is greater than the critical value

alternative research hypothesis which states that there is significant difference between causes and single
parenthood in Oghara community was accepted. The researcher hereby concluded that there are causes of single parenthood in Oghara
community. This is in
line with International
Displacement Monitoring Centre (2008) which stated that single parenthood can
result from the death of a spouse or divorce. They also identified other causes
of single parenthood to include rape, sexual harassment, wars and violent
crises.

From the result of the analysis of data collected,

there are

line with Uchendu (2008) who highlighted some of the challenges facing single
parents to include challenges with child care, insecurity, loneliness and
psychological problems. Pankow (2007) highlighted other challenges to include
career challenges, child support and dating.

to the challenges faced by single parents in the upbringing of their children
in Oghara community. This is in line with Meyer (2009) who suggested remedies to challenges faced by single
parents in the upbringing of their children to include managing finance effectively,
setting up a support system, maintaining a daily routine, being consistent with
discipline, answering questions honestly, abolishing guilt, spending time with
children, taking time off for oneself and by staying positive.
