THE POSITION

This is a fantastic
opportunity for a driven and experienced institutional grants professional who
enjoys working with a team of seasoned professionals to pursue new funding
opportunities, develop big proposal ideas, and oversee excellence in grant
management.

The New Business
Development (NBD) Officer supports two key functions within Dignitas:
institutional funding prospecting and proposal writing, and grant management.
The NBD Manager will drive Dignitas’ institutional funding strategy to identify
and pursue institutional funding opportunities and secure new grants, with a
particular focus new program opportunities with USAID in Malawi and elsewhere.
The person in this position will also oversee the management, reporting, and
compliance of ongoing institutional grants, including Dignitas’ contract with
USAID Malawi. This position also has a capacity building role within the
organization to foster learning and skill development on institutional funding.

The position salary
will be commensurate with the experience level of the successful candidate.
Dignitas is open to having this position based in Zomba, Malawi or in Toronto,
Canada, depending on the successful candidate’s preference

CANDIDATE
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

· Bachelor level
degree required

· first-hand
knowledge gained through experience of working with USAID RFA and project
management processes

· minimum four
years’ experience working with complex international global health or
international development projects and programs (some of this will be
field-based)

· proven experience
researching and preparing successful large, multi-year grant applications to
USAID and other bi-lateral and multi-lateral donors

· familiarity with
project cycle management tools, including logical and performance management
frameworks and risk registers

· practical
experience in designing and delivering global health programs

· strong knowledge
and analysis of key health and development issues

SKILLS AND
COMPETENCIES

· excellent
research, writing and analytical skills in English

· proven technical
skills in program design and development

· results-driven

· superior
networking skills, and in building productive working relationships with team
colleagues, country offices, partners and donors

· solid
understanding of monitoring and evaluation systems and processes

· ability to
collaborate, consult and achieve buy-in from others without direct line
management responsibility

· high energy,
positive, “can-do” attitude, flexibility, teamwork, and high degree of
initiative

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

· ability to travel
internationally on a frequent basis (a valid passport is required)

WORKING CONDITIONS

· office setting
with frequent travel between Canada and Africa

· occasional evening
and weekend hours required
