Diagnosis and Test of Hypertension

Diagnosis:
Diagnosing Hypertension is important, it is often
called a “silent disease” because it usually does not have outward symptoms, so
monitoring blood pressure is critical and regularly, especially if it has ever
been high or above the normal range or having family history of hypertension.

Test:
The only way to tell whether a person have high blood
pressure is to have the person’s blood pressure measured with a blood pressure
cuff (SPHYGMOMANOMETER). This device consists of a stethoscope, dial, pump,
value, a gauge and a rubber cuff that is placed around a person’s arm and
inflated. Having your blood pressure measured is painless and takes just a few
minutes.
Other tests
will also be done like blood tests including measurement of electrolytes, blood
urea and creatinine levels. (To assess kidney’s involvement).

Lipid profile for level of various kinds of
cholesterol
·                 
Special tests for hormones of adrenal gland or thyroid
gland.
·                 
Urine tests for electrolytes and hormones.
