Description of Study Area

Obiaruku
community is located in Ukwani Local Government Area of Delta State. It is found
along Sapele – Agbor road. It shares boundary at the north with Idala in Edo
State, at the south with Abraka in Ethiope East, at the east with Eziorpkor and
Umuebu in Ukwani Local Government Area.

The
community is made up of ten (10) quarters which include Ogbe-Aka, Ogbe-Ofu,
Ghana quarters, Umu-Ogwezi, Ogbe-Asaba, Ogbe-Uku, Agbanga, Okuzu, Obi-Ugbe and
Umusume. The people of the community are mostly Christians and their major
occupation is farming and trading. Most of the people are well educated.
The
research study is based on the impact of improper usage of pesticides on
Obiaruku community in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State. The result
of the study will cover all the people of Obiaruku community which has a
population of 25,680 (Census, 2006). A target population of 2,000 people will
be used for the study.
