Job Summary:
To diagnose pathology by routine and specialised radiological procedures and
investigative medical diagnostic ultrasound.

Requirements

Minimum
Requirements:

Degree
in Diagnostic Radiography and Diploma in Sonography
Three
(3) years’ experience in hospital environment
Experience
with digital and computerized radiography will be an added advantage
Registration
with the Botswana Health Services Professions Council
Six
months training in diagnostic medical ultrasound

Key Effectiveness
Areas:

Recommends
and incorporates cost saving initiatives into budgets.
Conducts
all radiological procedures/ examination to confirm or rule out suspected
pathology and makes necessary recommendations.
Conducts
ward radiologic examinations for bed ridden and critically ill patients
and ensures both patients and staff are protected from ionizing radiation.
Conducts
and monitors ultrasound examinations in the investigation of pathology
Performs
all ultrasound guided biopsy procedures and or needle aspirations and
assist medical officers in ultrasound guided specific organ injection of
drugs.
Conducts
ultrasound scans in trauma, acute and emergency cases to rule out major
organic rapture and plan for immediate surgery
Designs
a format for performance of all radiological examinations and coaches
staff members in the examination and diagnostic approach and ensures that
professional and technical standards are adhered to.
Maintains
high level standards of radiation safety for staff and patients and performs
periodical radiation safety tests on equipment to rule out radiation
leakage.
Takes
cognizance of and adheres to mine policies and procedures relating to
inter-alia safety and environmental issues.
