The School of
Engineering and Information Technology will be competitively awarding multiple
scholarships of from $6,000 to $9,000 each to domestic applicants commencing an
Undergraduate
course, located in the Sc

hool of Engineering and Information Technology (listed
here), who
demonstrate a pursuit for scientific
excellence
.

As a Dean’s Scholar, you will have access
to any research facility in the School
, will be paired with an
academic mentor and will be provided
with additional $2,000
to help you in pursuing your own
research interests. As a Dean’s Scholar, you can spend this support to travel
overseas to visit research groups, with the research placements facilitated by
academic mentors.

Five scholarships
will be reserved exclusively
for students applying for admission into either:

Undergraduate
Scholarships are competitively awarded to students commencing a Murdoch
University Undergraduate
degree and major offered by the School of Engineering and Information
Technology (as shown on the application form), with either an ATAR of 90 and above,
or equivalent exceptional
performance in any STEM discipline
prior to applying to Murdoch
University.

Number:
Multiple
scholarships are available.

Value:
$6,000 – $9,000;
plus an additional $2,000 for research purposes.

Closes:
Semester 2, 2016 closes:
Monday 8 August 2016, 8.00am (Australian
WST).
Semester 1, 2017 closes:
Thursday 5 January 2017, 4.00pm (Australian
WST).
Payment:
Subject to the
terms and conditions of the award being met, throughout the scholarship
recipients study
at Murdoch University, the award is paid in two equal instalments directly to
the successful recipient’s
nominated bank account over two consecutive calendar years.

In other words,
for those that commence their study in Semester 2 of 2016:

  • The
    first instalment will be paid after the Semester 2 2016 census date;
  • The
    second instalment will be paid after the Semester 2 2017 census date.

In the case for
those who commence their study in Semester 1 of 2017:

  • The
    first instalment will be paid after the Semester 1 2017 census date;
  • The
    second instalment will be paid after the Semester 1 2018 census date.
Eligibility:
To be eligible for
the award, applicants must:

  • Be a
    domestic student;
  • Have
    a West Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) or equivalent;
  • Have
    received an ATAR score of 90 or equivalent result within the last 18
    months from the
    closing date of the award; and
  • Have
    applied to study a course specialising in one of the majors offered by
    the School of
    Engineering and Information Technology (see list on application form).

Additionally for
Semester 2 applicants, you must:

  • Have
    applied for this course directly through the MyAdmission portal, before
    the Semester 2
    deadline. 

For Semester 1
applicants, you must:

  • Have
    selected an eligible
    Murdoch University course as your first preference in TISC.

What
happens next?

Applicants will be
assessed based on the published eligibility criteria. If the number of eligible
applications exceeds the number of awards that can be granted, award applicants
will be ranked and awards made based on highest ATAR scores or IB equivalents
in the first instance and then by recommended subjects followed by English
competence levels.
