Adelaide St and Bloor St and doubling the amount the City of Toronto spends on
cycling infrastructure to $16 million per year.

Employment Opportunity: Communications & Campaigns Manager

the next big wave to shake up our transportation system? Cycle Toronto is
searching for a creative, collaborative, entrepreneurial Communications &
Campaigns Manager to help grow our organization.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Communications (60%)
• Help to increase brand recognition and maintain brand consistency for Cycle
Toronto and our programs
• Create compelling graphic and web design materials for campaigns, programs,
and events, ensuring engaging and accurate messaging
• Lead the strategy, production and distribution of new
communications/promotional pieces (e.g.,graphics/print materials, promotional
messaging, presentations, infographics, merchandise) for campaigns, programs
and membership
• Work with web developers to provide regular updates to Cycle Toronto web
applications
• Generate content for and maintain our website, database, Ring & Post
e-newsletter, social media applications and online profiles
• Produce presentation materials including slide decks, partnership packages,
and set value of Cycle Toronto’s communications assets (promotions, services)
• Work with Executive Director to manage communications deliverables for our
partners to ensure their delivery: track and deliver online mailings, web
content, and social media promotions
• Develop media releases and Action Alerts related to priority advocacy
campaigns
• Work with the Executive Director on public policy and government relations –
representing Cycle Toronto at relevant meetings and consultations.
• Evaluate and maintain up-to-date records of media coverage, web analytics,
events attended, and other items.

Campaign Management (40%)
• Develop and implement Cycle Toronto advocacy and education campaigns
• Organize and attend Cycle Toronto campaign meetings and ensure excellent
communications between campaign team members
• Utilize grassroots planning and organizing tools to ensure success
• Develop and maintain relationships and builds alliances with community,
business and other relevant stakeholders
• Understanding of how to trigger the media cycle on advocacy issues
• Develop innovative and strong evidence-based materials and determine the best
methods for distribution
• Organize part-time and volunteer canvassers to extend Campaign Manager’s
impact
• Blend campaign and fundraising focus to increase donor revenue

Our candidate should have demonstrated experience with the following:
• A post-secondary degree in communications, marketing, political or social
sciences, or a related field, and 2-4 years of professional experience in:
communications, political and or grassroots campaign management
• Proficiency leading graphic campaigns and/or using Adobe Design Suite
(InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and HTML. Experience with Drupal and CiviCRM
are assets.
• Background/interest in community/city building, politics, transportation, and
grassroots advocacy
• Project management
• Strong understanding of social marketing and advocacy campaigns
• Canvassing residents and businesses on a campaign or local issue
• Engaging with a broad spectrum of stakeholders of diverse interests and
backgrounds in an inclusive environment
• Recruiting and leading a team of staff and/or volunteers is a strong asset
• Sound judgement on when to keep people informed and solving problems
creatively
• Ability to prioritize projects under competing deadlines
• Developing vibrant communications materials and website management
• Producing compelling oral and written communications
• Rides a bicycle

Terms of Employment:

Full time employment contract. 3 month probationary period. 40 hours per week
starting in mid September. $40,000 – $45,000 per year (pro rated) commensurate
with experience, with competitive vacation and benefits package. Successful
applicant must be a member of Cycle Toronto. Reports to Executive Director.
