Project Director for Expansion of Savings Groups in Rwanda
Catholic Relief
Service is seeking a Project Director for Expansion of Savings Groups in Rwanda
project commissioned by Access to Finance Rwanda and sponsored by DFID and the
World Bank. The program’s goal is to provide improved livelihood options and
social capital primarily for the rural poor. The program targets the following
objectives of reaching over 60,000 new members over two and a half years.
The Project Director will oversee and guide all program activities implemented
by CRS and partner organizations. S/he will serve as the primary point of
contact to the donors, partners’ organizations, Government of Rwanda at
national and local levels, and other external parties. S/he will ensure
program’s strategic objectives and results are fully accomplished and meet
expected technical quality standards, with key program staff and partners. The
incumbent must effectively manage relationships with CRS and partner staff to
establish and oversee all program activities. The Project Director will ensure
that the Expansion of Savings Groups in Rwanda project is managed in accordance
with cost/beneficiary targeting.
This position is contingent on donor funding.
The successful candidate will at minimum have the following
Qualifications and Skills:
- While a
Master’s Degree in Microfinance or Economics is preferred, a Bachelor
degree in Micro Finance, Economics, Development Studies, or related field
is required. - At
least 8 years of experience with savings and lending groups in urban
and/or rural areas, and project management - At
least 3 years managing significant programs required. - Proven
leadership and inter-personal skills and ability to build and motivate
diverse and talented teams. - Proven
experience in building and maintaining institutional linkages required. - Proven
ability to think strategically. - Cultural
sensitivity, patience and flexibility. - Demonstrated
personal accountability and driven to serve others. - Ability
to travel nationally and internationally as required. - Excellent
English language oral and written communication skills required. - Professional
fluency in French highly desirable. Kinyarwanda helpful. - Proficiency
in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook required.

Project Director for a nutrition project
Catholic Relief
Service is seeking a Project Director for a nutrition project, targeting
children under-2, funded by the Embassy of the Netherlands and facilitated by
UNICEF. The program’s goal is to contribute to the national objective of
reducing stunting rates of under-five children in Rwanda.
The program targets the following objectives:
- Build
the capacity of districts to coordinate and monitor scaling-up of multi
sectoral community-based nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive
interventions in targeted districts; - Build
the capacity of key service providers to prevent, identify and manage
under-nutrition among children under-five and pregnant and lactating
women; - Support
social and behavior change activities at community level for improved
maternal and child feeding practices in targeted districts; - Improve
food security and resilience of vulnerable targeted households with
children under two and pregnant and lactating women in targeted districts
